I grew up on a small farm in the South Burnett enjoying the freedom and the beauty of the varied landscape. After moving away following high school, for several years I studied many forms of art and expanded my views on life. Since then I worked in various occupations, mostly in aged care, and in the last few years I have returned to Kingaroy as a carer for my parents. This has given me the opportunity to recommence my hobby and to connect with several local art groups who provide encouragement, inspiration and friendship.
Although I enjoy all arts and crafts, acrylic painting is the most convenient form of expression for me in my present situation. I enjoy the use of colour and the influence of the pointillism art movement with artists Georges Seurat, Camille Pissarro and Vincent van Gough being some of my favourites. I see inspiration in a wide variety of subject matter and techniques, so my work at this stage often reflects places I have been to or simply things I find quirky or unique.
I also enjoy using mixed media as a form of expressive, social comment art. I believe that through the arts we can all have an impact on our society and bring about discussion and change.
