My main interest is watercolour in a loose, impressionistic style. I love the transparency, flow, immediacy and unpredictability of the medium and the happy accidents that can occur when water and colour interact. Painting on silk shares some of these qualities and is another medium I sometimes practise, but watercolour is my addiction.  Winston Churchill once said that he was looking forward to eternity so that he could spend the first million years perfecting his watercolour painting and, as I practise and learn, I know what he meant!

Animals, birds, flowers, people, movement, landscapes and old buildings are all subjects which make me want to pick up my brushes. Emotion, atmosphere, mood, colour and character interest me. I like to suggest and imply, leaving something to the viewer's imagination.  If one of my paintings evokes emotion, amusement, curiosity or happiness when you look at it, then I am delighted, for the process of painting it gave me enormous pleasure.

Thank you if you have bought one of my paintings. I hope it continues to give you pleasure. Please check out my website and Facebook page to find out more.
